Almost everyone knows the object of playing Blackjack: collect a winning hand of 21, or close to 21, without going bust. Despite its simple objective, there are basic strategies you can learn to avoid losing. Also, there are important differences between casino blackjack and online blackjack on this site.

Here are the fundamental mechanics: players start with 1000 chips each and whoever has the most chips after a certain number of hands wins the match. Before any cards are dealt each player decides the amount they wish to stake. Players make their choices on whether to hit (take another card), stand (play with the cards dealt) or double (buy a new card by doubling the original stake). The dealer then plays his hand and pays out to the hands, if any, that beat his score. The players aim is to amass the biggest chip stack they can in order to win tournament play. Sounds straight-forward, right?

Card Values

Picture cards count for 10

Number cards (2-10) are counted at face value

Aces can be valued at either 1 or 11, whichever value suits you best!

Playing the “House” vs. person-to-person tournaments

There is only a slight house edge in the online game here and players are not attempting to beat the dealer, but each other. Unlike casino Blackjack, players are allowed to split Aces, double down after splitting, and double down on any hand and split any 10s. The dealer is still, however, bound by the normal house rules, i.e. he must draw to 16 and stand on all 17s.
